Welcome to my website

I am really proud to have represented the people of Newcastle in Parliament for the last eighteen years. When I was elected in 2001, I was the first MP here for centuries actually to have been born and bred in our town. Since then, I have tried my best to help with the issues that matter to you, be it national policy, local projects or individual concerns.

I hope this website has given a flavour of that work, as well as being a useful guide to our local community. As Parliament has now been dissolved before the general election on 12th December, I am officially no longer the MP and am not seeking re-election this time. It has, of course, been a privilege to serve my home town at Westminster for all these years.
