05 Dec 2018Local Labour MP Paul Farrelly singled out the influence on him of one of his teachers at his old school in Newcastle-under-Lyme during the second day of debates on the Government’s withdrawal deal with the European Union.
He paid special tribute to Keith Walker, who taught Mr Farrelly German at school in Wolstanton, and passed away in November after battling with illness over the last year. The funeral is on Friday.
During the debate, Mr Farrelly registered his opposition to Theresa May’s Withdrawal Agreement, reiterated his support for the UK to remain within the European Union and, if Parliament cannot reach a majority for a sensible way forward, a possible second referendum over the issue.
